The MPAA (the RIAA douchebags of movies) released the following instructional video to educational institutions after they requested an exemption for ripping DVDs for classroom use.
What was their legal alternative? Video taping the goddamn TV! Sources say this isn't a joke either.
I'm not sure I understand how this is more legal than ripping. Can't the government just step in already? I wonder how much they have to pay in lobby dollars to still be taken seriously.
