When I was riding my bike to work yesterday, I totally got pooped on by a bird. When I got to work I had to go straight to a morning meeting where this dude I work with said "Oh that's lucky! You should buy a lottery ticket." The guy is from Hong Kong and if you didn't know, it's some Asian thing where they believe getting pooped on by a bird is lucky. Japanese people say the same thing. It's something about the probability of poop landing on you or something dumb. I really don't understand why that doesn't just mean that you're exceptionally unlucky.
So, I took their advice. I bought one of those Lucky For Life scratch tickets. And you know what? I didn't win a damn thing. I was talking to another guy at work about it later and he suggested that maybe I really was lucky because the money I would have won could have ruined my life. I thought that made sense like some cursed monkey paw thing or something. Well, at least it made sense until Jeremy brought up the point that I probably wouldn't have bought the ticket if I hadn't have gotten pooped on in the first place.
